The Art of Soup: 'HER' STORY
There are no shortcuts when making artisan soups. The passion that is involved in every recipe and technique is unique to The Art of Soup and reflected in the quality of the product. The soup that The Art of Soup produces is handcrafted using the finest ingredients available. When available the ingredients are all organic and produced in Arizona by local farmers and ranchers. The freshest ingredients grown by the organic farmers in part inspire these soups. The recipes are in large measure recipes passed down through my family over the generations. Further inspiration comes from extended family and recipes collected through our various travels. The soups will change based on the availability of ingredients as well as the seasons with chilled soups in the summer and hot soups on the winter.
Did you know that there is actual scientific data that shows homemade chicken soup speeds recovery time for a cold? Like the Romans, my Italian grandmother was ahead of her time and way ahead of the New England Journal of Medicine. Before the top of my auburn head could see above her kitchen table she taught me the essence of a bountiful life because "you are what you eat" has never been truer in our culture of corn syrup, pesticides, and fast food.
My feisty grandmother had a passion for what the earth can give us if we pay attention and nourish ourselves and our loved ones with care. Seasonal cooking and respect for the natural flavors of fresh, healthy ingredients turn everyday eating into "un zuppa di artigianato", a savory explosion of what nature intended for us. My soups are the culmination of my Italian roots and a philosophy that exquisite cooking is an art to be enjoyed without guilt, resulting in health and longevity.
Once you try a bowl, I cannot guarantee you'll have visions of a spry lady wearing a homemade apron operating a crank style pasta maker, but I will guarantee you will want another bowl.
Enjoy!
